About this text-to-HTML converter

Turning a plain list into properly structured HTML by hand means wrapping every single line in its own tag and pasting in the right styling for each one - tedious and easy to get wrong. This tool does it in one pass: paste in your text, choose an enclosing container and a per-line wrapper (or none at all), set the styling once, and every line comes out consistently formatted.

It's especially handy for content that starts life somewhere other than a page - a spreadsheet column of names, a list copied from a document, or plain notes - that needs to become real, styleable HTML without hand-editing dozens of lines.

Frequently asked questions

What can I paste in?

Plain text works best - one item per line. You can also paste simple HTML (links, bold text etc.) and it will be kept in the output; the live preview strips anything that isn't safe to display inline (like scripts) but the code box always contains your full, unmodified input.

Can I convert a spreadsheet column?

Yes - select a column in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, copy it, and paste directly into the text box. Each cell becomes its own line, and each line becomes its own item.

What's the difference between wrapping each line and just adding a line break?

Wrapping each line in its own container (div/p/span) lets you style, target and script each item individually with CSS or JavaScript later. A plain line break is simpler and fine if you just want readable text with no individual styling.

Is the generated code valid HTML?

Yes - it's well-formed, semantic HTML you can paste directly into a page. Style is applied inline so the snippet is self-contained and works wherever you paste it.
